The longest-range electric cars in 2026
Range is the first question everyone asks about an electric car. We have ranked the cars that go furthest on the WLTP cycle today, and added what the brochure will not tell you: how far our own cars go in everyday use and on the motorway.

Figures vary with wheels and equipment. The BMW iX5 and iX4 are not included – the manufacturer still describes their figures as provisional.
The Lucid Air Grand Touring comes first: a new car is rated at 817 to 960 km depending on wheel size. Lucid is not officially sold in the Czech Republic, but you can rent one here – our car has a range of up to 832 km.

Source: manufacturers' websites, 6 November 2026. The Lucid Gravity is a seven-seat SUV; we do not rent it. Polestar describes its figure as a WLTP target.
Is there an electric car with a 1,000 km range?
Not on the WLTP cycle yet. The Lucid Air Grand Touring comes closest with 960 km, followed by the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ with 926 km and the BMW i3 50 xDrive with 912 km.
A four-digit figure appears only as a partial value: Volvo quotes up to 1,002 km for city driving in the EX60, whose combined range is 810 km.
Electric car range on the motorway and in winter
WLTP is a laboratory test at a mild temperature and largely at lower speeds. On the road, two things shorten range most: speed and cold. At 130 km/h air resistance rises and consumption with it. In winter, part of the energy goes into heating the cabin and the battery.
This is what it looks like on our cars:
- Motorway: our Tesla Model 3 Long Range has a long-term average of 17.8 kWh/100 km. On motorway trips it is 20.3 kWh/100 km, 14% more.
- Winter: from December to February the same car uses 18.9 kWh/100 km against 16.7 in summer. That is roughly 390 km on a full battery in winter and 440 km in summer. The difference is larger for the Model Y: 25.9 against 18.0 kWh/100 km.
Real-world range: how far our cars go
Figures from our fleet, not from a brochure. Range is calculated from today's battery capacity as reported by the car and the average consumption while driving.
| Car | Distance in the data | Average consumption | Range on a full battery | On the motorway |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tesla Model 3 Long Range | 48,800 km since September 2024 | 17.8 kWh/100 km | about 410 km | about 360 km |
| Tesla Model 3 Performance | 47,500 km since September 2024 | 20.8 kWh/100 km | about 350 km | about 320 km |
| Tesla Model Y | 48,700 km since March 2025 | 19.8 kWh/100 km | about 370 km | about 330 km |
| Lucid Air Grand Touring | 3,400 km since September 2026 | 21.3 kWh/100 km | about 507 km | about 480 km |
As of 6 November 2026. Battery capacity as reported by the car: about 74 kWh for the Model 3 and Model Y, 108 kWh for the Lucid. Motorway = trips over 50 km with an average speed above 95 km/h; for the Lucid, the fDrive.cz motorway test at 130 km/h. Only energy used while driving is counted.
So far our Lucid has mostly done short trips – 23 km on average – which raises consumption. On a longer run, the Czech magazine fDrive.cz measured our car in autumn 2025: 22.5 kWh/100 km on the motorway at 130 km/h, which works out at about 480 km down to empty, and 19 kWh/100 km in mixed driving, almost 600 km. Source: motorway test and road test (both in Czech).
How fast it charges: why voltage matters
On a long trip it is not only range that counts, but also how long you stand at the charger. Higher voltage allows more power at the same current. The Lucid Air runs at 924 V and charges at up to 300 kW: a fast charger adds about 300 km in roughly a quarter of an hour. Most cars in the ranking have an 800 V architecture and charge at 270 to 400 kW. The Tesla Model 3 charges at up to 250 kW on a Supercharger.

Lucid Air, Tesla Model S or Porsche Taycan?
Three large electric cars, three different characters. We have all three in our fleet, so we compare them by how they drive, not only by the brochure.
| Lucid Air Grand Touring | Tesla Model S Plaid | Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo | |
|---|---|---|---|
| WLTP range | up to 832 km | up to 600 km | up to 478 km |
| Power | 831 hp | 1,020 hp | 476 hp |
| 0–100 km/h | 3 s | 2.1 s | 5.1 s |
| Charging | 924 V, up to 300 kW | up to 250 kW | 800 V, up to 270 kW |
